Kinetic installation
A magnetically levitated electric motor powered by solar energy.
The sphere represents our planet, where life exists thanks to sunlight — the photon. The installation itself operates on the same principle, through the electromagnetic interaction mediated by photons.
A photon either moves at the speed of light, or it does not exist at all. And Movement is Life is not merely a beautiful analogy — it is a literal condition: without movement, neither this magnetically levitating motor nor life on Earth could exist.
This work was nominated for the Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Prize in 2022.
